16th August 1990 THURSDAY
Started out at 3.30pm From home (5, Barsham Drive) by 4.30pm we are on the M40 towards Warwick. At 6.08pm, we stopped for a comfort break at Higham Ferrers. We drove through lots of smokey burning fields, farmers do this after they have gathered crops, to purify the soil or something like that.
8.10pm we arrive at Felixstowe, and re-fuel the car before going to the docks for the ferry.

Way back in August 1990 Andy and I took a road trip to Romania. Things were very different then, no internet to speak of, mobile phones were rare, and Eastern Europe was a VERY different place. Andy worked for a furniture company in Romania and had to travel there often. Eventually having his own house there, and no need for hotels. A few days ago I found the diary I kept of that one trip. I wrote it at the time to share with our Children who were 9 and 2 years old at the time. Now they are grown up, maybe they would like to read it, so I share it here for anyone who is interested. Not to mention for my own memories!
